| WHY? . |
|
That’s a good question. So why would two
reasonably well known model diorama builders, who have good steady jobs
and families and all the other responsibilities that go with life these
days, go through all the set up problems in starting a new venture,
spend lots of good modelling time doing it, then search around for the
machinery, the right materials, the right packaging, the development of
a website, learning new computer programs and using the ones we have to
a greater level, and putting reputations on the line? If it doesn’t
work, you are right out there in the spotlight of your peers.
Why, after taking all this into consideration are John and I taking on
this venture. There are probably a variety of reasons. Both of us have
had our models turned into kits by companies like Stoney Creek, and
reason that if they can do it, so can we. We also revel in the challenge
of a new venture, and because both of us has been in business for
ourselves at one time or another, we know what is required to make
something like this work. It should also help to continue to improve our
modelling skills, and with the equipment required for this venture,
allow us to do things that we have been unable to do in the past, and
thus be able to pass these new innovations onto you. The main aim is
that all of us will benefit from this venture.
Right from the start we have both steadfastly held
to the view that we are going to present structure kits that we would
want to build, and have decided to design and build structure dioramas
as we always have, and then when they are finished, decide if they are
good enough to become a commercial kit. We may have to alter them, add
or remove elements from the design, but the over riding issue will
always be - would we want to build this structure if it was
a kit. We also want each kit to have the feel of being scratch built and
hopefully see you bashing our kits into new and exciting variations of
our designs. We hope you will share your built up and altered kits with
us and all our friends out there.
And as always, both John and I are ready to accept
criticism, because I’m sure we won’t get it right every single time, and
to look at other ideas, and especially your ideas. Please let us know
what you think of our kits, good or bad, or what you would like to see
as kits, so we can continue to improve and make your experience of our
kits a good one.
Cheers
Laurie and John
